Stan Lowrance, DDS, FAGD, and Chris S. Baker, DDS, FAGD
If you think you know what to expect when visiting the dentist, Lowrance Dental will surprise you. Dr. Stan Lowrance, Dr. Chris Baker, and the team provide a level of know-you-by-name, personalized care that is difficult to find these days. As a thriving practice that has been serving the community for 37 years, Lowrance Dental’s approach boils down to a basic principle which he and his team live by every day. “We care for our patients as we would want to be cared for,” he says. And at Lowrance Dental, these aren’t just empty words.
“Knowing we’ve provided high-quality dental care to our friends, neighbors, and other residents of the community is our greatest reward,” says Dr. Lowrance.
Healthy Mouth, Healthy Body
While Lowrance Dental boasts an experienced, friendly staff and a new high-tech, state-of-the-art office, their fundamental goal is to help patients enjoy an attractive smile and maintain great oral health.
“Your smile is your introduction to the world,” Dr. Lowrance explains. “It helps you create social bonds and makes a lasting first impression. But there’s more to having a great smile than aesthetics alone. Good oral health is the foundation for everything, which is why we focus on providing top-notch preventive care and restorative dentistry along with cosmetic dentistry.”
In fact, research now shows what dentists such as Dr. Lowrance have known all along—your oral health and your overall health are intricately linked.
“If you can’t chew well due to missing teeth or inflamed gums, for example, it can affect your nutritional intake and your body’s ability to digest food properly,” Dr. Lowrance says. “Similarly, an oral infection due to broken down teeth or gum disease can lead to systemic infection and health problems. Bacteria in the mouth can lead to cardiovascular disease, bacterial pneumonia, diabetes mellitus, and low birth weight babies, among other things.”
And the oral health/body health relationship goes both ways. Dentists, for example, are often the first healthcare professionals to alert a person they may have diabetes and should see their physician. Drs. Lowrance and Baker check for other signs of health problems and perform oral cancer screening.
“We use OralID fluorescence light technology to ‘see’ below the top layer of tissue and visualize oral cancer and other abnormal lesions. I call it my CSI light. We’ve caught pre-cancerous tissue in patients before it had the chance to become cancerous,” says Dr. Lowrance, a self-described “techno-geek.”
The Perfect Combination
Patients love Lowrance Dental’s good old-fashioned service delivered with heartfelt caring and compassion, as well as the convenience of receiving special services in-house at one location. These include dental implant placement and restorations, root canals, periodontal treatment, and Invisalign orthodontic treatment.
Lowrance Dental’s use of advanced technology, such as 3D cone beam imaging, offers myriad benefits. Providing a full ear-to-ear scan with low radiation 3D imaging helps the dentists better diagnose and treat problems. They use it for root canal therapy, dental implant placement, all forms of sedation, and other procedures.
“We listen to our patients and build trust, educate them, and strive to give them a choice in treatment options,” says Dr. Lowrance. “We tailor treatment steps based on what’s right for each patient. We never try to ‘sell’ someone on a procedure or recommend treatment we wouldn’t want for ourselves.”
Treatment for missing teeth is a good example. Drs. Lowrance and Baker will review and compare options with you such as dental implants, All-On-4 implant-retained dentures, and removable dentures. Then, armed with knowledge and information, you can decide which option will best meet your needs.
Drs. Lowrance and Baker collaborate to handle highly complex cases such as full mouth reconstruction in addition to routine dentistry.
“We consult with one another daily to provide the best treatment possible for our patients,” says Dr. Baker. “Using our specific skills and experience, we often work together on the same patient to achieve an ideal outcome.”
Dr. Lowrance adds, “Dr. Baker is a fantastic dentist—in fact, he’s my dentist. He just finished a dental implant on me. I hold him in the highest regard as a dentist and associate.”
The two dentists also share a passion for continuing education and lifelong learning. Both are Fellows of the Academy of General Dentistry (FAGD), which requires a minimum of 500 continuing dental education credit hours and passing a comprehensive exam. Part of the Fabric of the Community
Embracing his father’s dedication to community involvement, Dr. Lowrance follows in his footsteps. “Dad always said, ‘Give because you can.’ I try to live up to these words.”
Dr. Lowrance has received a Congressional Recognition Award for his outstanding contributions to the community and was voted Rockwall Man of the Year (1999-2000). Through the Rockwall Rotary Club, he began the Hot Rocks Bike Ride which has awarded over $400,000 in student scholarship funds. He is a member and former board member of the Chamber of Commerce and has served as a Rockwall ISD trustee.
Recently, Lowrance Dental completed their second annual D-Day for V-Day event providing free dentistry to veterans. “D-Day for V-Day is a way for us to give back to those who gave so much,” Dr. Stan Lowrance shares.
