Premier Foot & Ankle
Foot pain can come in many forms, and it’s estimated that 75 percent of the population will have a foot problem at one time or another. That number is huge. But problems with your foot or ankle shouldn’t have to slow you down or interfere with your life. If you’ve had to put the things you love on hold, such as golf, running, or your family vacation, you need to meet the professionals at Premier Foot & Ankle, with even more locations to serve you.
The doctors of Premier Foot and Ankle understand there are many things that can get between you and the activities you love: plantar fasciitis, flat feet, Achilles tendon problems, bunions and hammertoes, ingrown toenails, and diabetic foot issues, just to name a few. Thankfully, they have successfully helped thousands of patients—from pro athletes to weekend warriors, from grade schoolers to grandparents—get back in the game and back to their lives. They always begin with the least invasive treatment options and exhaust all conservative therapy before considering surgery. And even when surgery is the best option, they advocate the most minimally-invasive procedures that will fix the problem, and have thorough discussions to ensure all options have been evaluated and understood.
EPAT
Premier Foot & Ankle offers several unique, non-operative, and non-invasive choices such as the EPAT treatment indicated for plantar fasciitis and Achilles tendinitis. “EPAT, which stands for extracorporeal pulse activation treatment, is something we’ve used on hundreds of patients, with great success. The procedure can be done in-office without the need for injections or anesthesia, and the patient is able to walk out of the office afterward, with few restrictions. Our success rate with EPAT is over 85 percent, and in most cases, it allows us to avoid surgery,” Dr. Korpinen said. “These conditions can be debilitating for our active patients and we want them to resume their favorite activities as quickly as possible.”
Podiatherm
“Podiatherm nerve ablation is another treatment that uses radio frequency waves to stop foot pain,” Dr. Freeland said. “It’s used for nerve problems of the feet including neuromas, or a pinched nerve in the ball of the foot, and can also be used for plantar fasciitis where there is nerve entrapment. It’s a non-surgical procedure and can be performed in the office with patients resuming their normal activities within the next few days. This has been a great procedure in our practice and has decreased the need for surgery immensely.”
MLS Laser Treatment
MLS Laser therapy is another new therapy that’s being performed in-office. “The Multiwave Locked System (MLS) Laser is a Class IV, FDA-cleared, patented, photon healing laser that precisely synchronizes simultaneous dual wavelengths and emissions resulting in optimal clinical effectiveness. It stimulates healing by increasing cell turnover and decreasing inflammation and scar tissue in a pain-free manner,” Dr. Ramirez said.
“The MLS Laser can be used for multiple pathologies including but not limited to plantar fasciitis, tendinitis of the foot and ankle, arthritis maintenance, post-operative therapy to accelerate healing, and even for recovery from athletic events and marathons,” he said. “We recently had a marathon runner who suffered from plantar fasciitis for months and was healed in three weeks with the laser.” The laser treatments are two to three times a week and your doctor can discuss the schedule and modality that will work best for you.
Surgery
Unfortunately, not all foot and ankle conditions respond to conservative treatment. Although the doctors at Premier Foot & Ankle never consider surgery until all non-invasive treatment options have been exhausted, conditions such as trauma or broken bones to the foot and ankle, bunions, flat feet, and sport-related injuries may be best treated through surgery. All of the Premier Foot & Ankle surgeons are well versed and trained in cutting-edge techniques and new research involving surgical procedures of the foot and ankle. They’ve performed thousands of successful foot and ankle surgeries and seen many patients set free from foot and ankle pain.
Patient Empowerment
“We focus on patient education and communication,” Dr. Korpinen said. “Foot and ankle pain is not a normal part of life. We want each patient to fully understand his or her condition and the treatment options available to them. We fully understand how frustrating it is to our patients to not to be able to do the things they want to do and love. And we want to utilize the latest technology and exhaust every alternative before we consider surgery for any one of them.”
In addition to the treatments mentioned above, the doctors of Premier Foot & Ankle also offer custom orthotics, diabetic foot care, treatment for ingrown toenails, laser therapy for fungal toenails, vascular testing, diabetic nerve testing, plantar warts, and skin lesions. They are now accepting new patients at all Premier Foot & Ankle locations in Plano, Frisco, Allen, Mesquite, Dallas, and Celina. Saturday appointments are now available.
