MIND MATTERS PSYCHIATRYMD

Oladele Adebogun, MD, FAPA, FASAM

Dr. Oladele Adebogun and his staff of trained professionals offer patients renewed hope in the midst of despair. With a comprehensive approach to a broad range of psychiatric concerns, Mind Matters PsychiatryMD is a one stop shop for counseling, medication management, psychopharmacology, and cutting-edge scientific treatments.

Dr. Adebogun, founder and medical director of the group, uses an evidenced-based, therapeutic psychopharmacology approach for adults, children, and adolescents needing consultation for diagnosis and treatment of complex disorders of sleep, anxiety, attention deficit and hyperactivity, bipolar disorder, dementias, personality and brain syndromes, schizophrenia, panic disorders, obsessive compulsive disorders, addiction disorders, and pain syndromes from an emotional perspective. In addition, he treats complicated grief issues, post traumatic disorder, and retirement despair. Depression and anxiety are among the chief patient complaints and can interfere with personal and professional relationships, diminish functioning at school and work, and eventually, diminish emotional resistance to stress.

“Psychiatric medical treatment is not a one-size-fits-all approach. Our personalized therapy is tailored to each patient’s specific needs based on a thorough consultation and evaluation,”

says Dr. Adebogun. “We appreciate the need for a patient’s urgent care and take this very seriously.” He specializes in difficult, multi-dimensional diagnoses requiring an expert level of care. His distinguished staff consists of psychiatric nurse practitioners, a physician assistant, licensed professional counselors, and administrative professionals, allowing a comprehensive treatment approach and an opportunity for individuals requiring different aspects of care.

Dr. Adebogun uses a unique and relatively new procedure that has been tested and shown to improve depression in patients who are resistant to other treatments or have had unfavorable side effects to traditional psychotropic medications. Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) is a noninvasive procedure that uses magnetic pulses to stimulate brain cells that control mood. The FDA-approved treatment delivers short pulses of magnetic energy directed at limbic system structures that control emotional and behavioral patterns. The pulses trigger electrical charges, causing neurons to activate. Dr. Adebogun has been using TMS treatment on a number of his patients for six years. Positive results offer encouragement and hope for those suffering from debilitating depression.

Dr. Adebogun completed residency at the Menninger Department of Psychiatry, Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, Texas in 1998, where he was chief resident of the Ben Taub General Hospital psychiatry emergency room. He holds a diplomate from the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, and a diplomate from the American Board of Addiction Medicine. He has distinguished appointments by his peers in numerous national societies including fellow of the American Psychiatric Association.
