Edward P. Hurst, MD
KEY-WHITMAN
(FORMERLY ROCKWALL EYE ASSOCIATES)
Dr. Edward P. Hurst and the entire staff at Rockwall Eye Associates remain committed to improving patients’ vision with phenomenal care. For 33 years, Dr. Hurst has helped patients enhance their overall quality of life by using the most advanced technology to treat them. Whether patients need cataract surgery or suffer from glaucoma, Dr. Hurst makes it his mission to always put the patient’s needs first. In fact, the entire team operates by a “patientfirst” mantra.
Their mission resonates with those who seek care at Rockwall Eye Associates. One patient commented, “I only have great things to say about the office and staff. They listened to my issue and were able to suggest the best procedures to me.” Another said, “I value doctors that have the best knowledge and most experience in their field. From my first appointment, I was impressed from the receptionist to the highly skilled doctor. Never has an appointment been disappointing.”
Rockwall Eye Associates specializes in cataract surgery, multifocal lens replacement, diabetic retinopathy, dry eye, glaucoma, and macular degeneration. The practice consolidated into one office on South Goliad Street about three years ago, making it easy for patients to seek treatment in a single location. The office boasts a retina practice on one side and a glaucoma practice on the other.
Dr. Hurst is proud to offer state-of-the-art cataract surgery, during which a cloudy lens is replaced with a clear artificial lens. For Dr. Hurst, it’s incredibly rewarding to help restore patients’ vision.
“In many parts of medicine, you patch people. But sometimes in medicine, you fix a problem”
he said. “In the case of cataracts, we help patients see more clearly than they ever have before.”
Dr. Hurst travels the world to help restore patients’ vision. He has been involved in many overseas medical missions, performing cataract surgeries and providing much-needed eye care to those in need. “Cataracts are much worse for people in Africa and Central American. Cataracts often mean people can’t see to get around and they need a family member to lead them,” he said. “If we don’t take the cataracts out, nobody will. It’s very gratifying to help someone get their life back.”
Throughout his career, Dr. Hurst has made it a point to stay engaged in the field and contribute his knowledge and insight. He has served as hospital chief of staff, served on the board of Key Whitman, and was named Rotarian of the Year.
Since his childhood, Dr. Hurst has been fascinated with medicine and helping people. “It’s a great job,” he said. “I get to take care of people.” When you schedule an appointment at Key Whitman Rockwall, you’ll be working with a knowledgeable, compassionate team who truly cares.
